CBS Undergraduate Senior Reception

Friday, November 21, 2008
3–5 p.m.
McNamara Alumni Center Atrium

Sign-up for the event is now closed. If you would still like to participate, please email Scott Coenen, scoenen@umn.edu.

CBS undergraduates graduating fall 2008, spring, May or summer 2009 are invited to this special reception and information session sponsored by the CBS Dean’s Office. At this gathering, CBS deans, faculty and staff will have a chance to congratulate you on one of the most important accomplishments of your life: graduation from college.

If you bring your APAS report to the reception, an advisor from CBS Student Services will review the report and make sure you’re on track to complete your degree. You can also find out how and when to apply to graduate. You’ll also have a chance to meet with staff from Financial Aid, the Career Center for Science and Engineering, the Health Careers Center, and the Biological Sciences Alumni Society.

CBS encourages you to start thinking about your educational plan early so you can graduate in four years. As a CBS student, you have access to academic advisers and faculty mentors who can confirm you are completing your academic requirements and taking the steps you need to be prepared for life after graduation. Whether you’re planning to attend graduate school, obtain a full-time job in the profession of your choice, or pursue a career in a health field, it's important to talk with CBS faculty and advisers about your progress towards completing your degree and the opportunities available to you outside of the classroom.

Graduation checklist

  1. Apply for your degree on One Stop

This 2-minute online application should be submitted for the term you plan to finish your final degree requirements. Be sure to apply by the stated deadlines.
  2. RSVP for the CBS Commencement Ceremony

CBS has only one commencement ceremony during the spring semester. The 2009 CBS Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Northrop Auditorium. The RSVP system will go live in December 2008. Please check back then.
  3. Check your APAS and transcript to verify degree completion

Be sure to check your APAS report and transcript to verify that you have met all of your degree requirements. CBS cannot process your degree clearance until your final grades have been posted to your transcript.
